A LITTLE ABOUT YOU:

The PR Specialist will develop, manage and execute the strategic public relations plans including media pitches, stunts, media activations and events, influencer outreach and relations. The most immediate story — and plan to be developed around — is our launch into a new market this Fall. This is an important role in driving substantive media coverage, link building and social buzz for our growing company. You have a large network of journalists and influential bloggers at your fingertips. But you’ve also cold pitched your way into stories before. The PR Specialist will work closely with cross-functional leaders in marketing, sales and partnerships and will report to and strategize with the Head of Marketing. 

PLEASE NOTE:

This is a part-time, contract role — perfect for freelance communications professionals who have multiple clients. 

SPECIFICALLY, YOU’LL:

  • Create and implement Fluent City’s national and local PR strategies focused on elevating brand awareness, and most immediately in our new market launch
  • Create ongoing relationships with important press contacts (publishers and blogs) on behalf of Fluent City
  • Create press pitches, press releases, talking points, and briefing materials for all press engagements
  • Plan and execute media events where appropriate
  • Manage media recaps and analyze the impact of media coverage

 

YOUR BACKGROUND:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Account Executive (agency), in-house PR Manager and/or freelance PR specialist
  • You’ve successfully launched a new brand and/or a new market for an existing brand before
  • Strong editorial skills
  • Strong media contacts, especially in consumer press but also tech & business
  • A self-starter who can work in a team environment

 

BONUS ROUND:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field
  • Experience in the education or ed-tech space
  • Experience working with startups
  • Experience working with social influencers
  • Experience with media events
